Belle Armoire Star Players – Tessa Rochellikimberly
If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Tessa (AKA Tess) in store you’ll know that she’s one sweet and fun spirited gal who probably gets just as excited as you do when she finds you that perfect piece to add to your wardrobe. What you might not know is that she is deeply connected to her Italian heritage with her family being the number one love of her life. Second to that she is an incredible dancer and sure knows how to belt out a tune (you should ask her to sing for you when you’re in store next – sorry Tess!). This gorgeous woman took five minutes out for a Q&A and here’s what she had to say…..
What do you love about working in retail?
I have worked in a few industries, mainly hospitality, but fashion has always interested me. So when I got the chance to work at Belle Armoire I literally jumped for joy. Being able to find a that special piece of clothing for someone, that makes them feel 100% and then witnessing the positive attitude towards themselves at the end is best reward you could get.
What does your beauty regime entail?
I don’t know if you would put this in the “beauty” category, but taking a few long breaths to kick start my day is a must, I also make sure I take the time do the same before bed. 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is always on my list, I use it for cooking, for moisturising my skin, hair treatment and I literally take a spoonful of it, swoosh it around my mouth! It detoxes your mouth and is super good for you internally. I use Witch Hazel and Tea Tree face wash for any blemishes. When it comes to makeup I have always loved a natural look, but I have been sucked in by my sister and I treat myself by getting eyelash extensions. They are literally the best!!
If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
An around the world ticket would be perfect, but if I would choose one country to go to first I would go straight to Italy! Lucky for me I have an Italian passport, thanks to my Italian background. Go to Trieste (where my family is from) and visit family/friends. I’m keen to travel the world as soon as possible!
If you could go back in time five years, what advice would you give to your former self?
So, five years ago means I would of been 18! A classic teen finishing up at Orange High School and getting ready to conquer adult life haha
On a serious note though, as women we are so tough on ourselves and on the way we look. Having gone through an eating disorder and depression not only once, but twice, it has had a huge impact on not just my life but my families life. It is a massive thing to admit to having a mental illness, but it’s important that people know that so many people do suffer from mental illness – one in five in Australia to be exact. It’s nothing to be ashamed of and there’s not need to suffer in silence.
The best advice I would give to 18 year old Tess is to be kinder to herself, be grateful for every single moment with family and friends, and to just take the time to realise how lucky I am to have so many people who love and support me through all the tough times that may occur.
What Belle Armoire piece do you have hanging in your wardrobe that you love the most?
Hmm… That is a tough one! My Nobody Denim Shorts were worn to death last Summer. But I cannot go past my Spell pieces, one of my fave’s is the Babushka Gown in Turquoise. I got it for when we went to Bali last year and it was just the perfect dress for day or night.
What is your ultimate dream job?
I have always wanted to be on Broadway….. But after visiting Bali, it would be cool to be a dance/yoga/pilates instructor on a tropical island.
I know you love music and have a real passion for dance, who is your favourite artist?
Having been brought up in a musical family I was always surrounded by so many fabulous artists including singers such as Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Eva Cassidy just to name a few. But if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you’ll know it’s pretty obvious I am a massive fan of BEYONCE!! The triple threat in show biz, she can sing, dance and has done some acting. She is just a great role model for girls and women. When I got to see her live a few years ago (may I boast and tell you all that I held hands with her for at least 30secs when my friend and I got chosen into a VIP section) she performs so effortlessly, doesn’t lip sync, she isn’t stick thin and can shake her booty very very well haha
If you could visit just one café in Orange for the rest of your days, which one would it be?
We are so lucky in Orange to have so many amazing cafes. While I do spend most of my days in Belle Armoire, of course I grab my coffee from Good Eddy! Loving their delicious cold brew at the moment.
What do you like to do when you’ve got some down time?
Catching up with my friends over some sort of beverage and cheese is always on the agenda of a weekend. Mum and I love chilling out on the lounge watching a bit of Netflix. I regularly practice Yoga and do some sort of exercise as well.
What is your favourite label at Belle Armoire?
I bet you could guess… Spell!!! I remember when I bought my first Spell piece in Byron while I was visiting fam. When I got back to Orange I noticed a few girls wearing the same piece! I was like “Hey where did you get your Spell?”, they replied “Belle Armoire stock it”. Lizzie and Spelly from Spell just keep producing the goods when it comes down to each collection. The better they are getting the more I fall deeper and deeper in love! We are all so lucky to have access to this beautiful label here in Orange.
Who inspires you?
My mum. She is not only a mother to me but also is a mum to everyone. Mum would drop everything to help others and is always at your door with a vegetarian lasagna or soup if you are going through a rough time. We are very alike in many ways but she seems to take on so much with no complaints. My best friend, advice giver, broken heart healer, teacher and personal chef. The most wonderful thing about my mum is that when she sings, she fills my heart with so much happiness.
